Oct. 28--TOPEKA -- It's one thing to beat a team in the state championship match after losing to it all season long.

But doing it two years in a row? You almost couldn't make that up.

However, that's exactly what St. Thomas Aquinas did when it fended off a determined Bishop Miege team 2-0 (25-22, 25-22) in the Kansas 5A championship match on Saturday at the Kansas Expocentre.

Before the championship match, the Saints, 39-3, had lost to the Stags, 42-2, the previous three times they met this season. However, they played well enough to produce a similar ending to last year, when the Saints dropped their first two…
