Oct. 28--While 1,700 supremely fit athletes treaded water on Oct. 13 at Kona, Hawaii, Lance Leo dove down to the coral below and looked up at a seemingly endless forest of human legs.
"I did everything I could to remember the moment," the Highland Creek, Charlotte, resident related last week, two days after returning from the Ford Ironman World Championship.
That included walking the last half-mile of the concluding marathon so he could find his wife, Annie, in the crowd, pick up their 9-month old, Luke, and cross the finish line together.
