Oct. 25--Red Lodge Mountain has been sold to a San Francisco real estate investment firm that recently purchased two ski resorts at Lake Tahoe and owns Ghirardelli Square, a historic Bay Area tourist attraction.
According to Rob Ringer, ski area manager for the past eight years, new owner JMA Ventures won't change operations at the ski area this year.
"It's business as normal from that standpoint," Ringer said. "Our prices are what they are for this season. They're up a little bit."
Ringer confirmed the sale of the ski area and related Red Lodge Mountain Golf Course to JMA in a Wednesday interview. JMA officials declined to comment. Ringer said a news release was in the works.
"We're excited about the possibilities," he said. "Things will change. But I think they'll change for the better."
A recent Forest Service review of the sale yielded no objections to the JMA purchase. Traute Parri, Beartooth district ranger for the Custer National Forest, said Tuesday that JMA was reviewed for its financial and technical capabilities as part of a requirement to complete the stock transfer.
