Oct. 26--BEDFORD -- A handful of parents representing a newly formed group spoke at Thursday night's meeting of the Bedford County School Board.
The group, Concerned Parents for Bedford County, formed last week after the death of a student who had been hospitalized with an antibiotic-resistant staph infection and after the one-day closure of the county's 22 schools for cleaning.
Ashton Bonds, a senior at Staunton River High School, died Oct. 15 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after being diagnosed with a Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection, according to his mother Veronica Bonds of Lynch Station.…
