Auction action
Auction season is still three months away in Scottsdale, Arizona, but Barrett-Jackson and Russo and Steele are already making news. Russo and Steele has a deal with Arizona for use of the property where the company conducts its Scottsdale auction. Barrett-Jackson had filed a request for use of the same parcel, prompting complaints from Russo and Steele (Revs, June 25). All is resolved.
Meanwhile, Barrett-Jackson announced it has sold a minority share in its auction operations to Portland, Oregon, investment firm Endeavour Capital. The company also announced that it is accepting early consignments for its January 2008 Scottsdale auction.
Alpha Caddy coming
There's a new baby in Cadillac's future, a rear-driver smaller than the CTS, that's part of the product plan for General Motors' new Alpha platform, Automotive News reports.
Alpha cars begin production in 2011 at the Lordstown, Ohio, plant that now builds the Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5. Sources say Pontiac may get a less-costly variant of the baby Caddy.
