In an unauthorized revelation, the UAW disclosed General Motors' plans to produce a small rear-wheel-drive car codenamed Alpha.

GM will build two body styles of the Alpha, starting in 2011, at GM's plant in Lordstown, Ohio.

Alpha is a new platform for GM, and, according to our sister publication Automotive News, it sounds as if it will be about the size of the BMW 1 Series. GM won't say which brands would get the Alpha.
