Myth 1. Radar detectors prevent tickets.
"If you buy one of our radar detectors to drive 120 mph on the highway,'' says Tony Kainuma, product manager for detector giant Cobra Electronics, "you will get a ticket. A big one.'' What radar detectors do, in fact, is alert a motorist to the proximity of police radar. The concept of avoiding tickets is separate.
