Schumacher Leaving Toyota
Ralf Schumacher, the 32-year-old younger brother of seven-time champion Michael, said on his Web site that he will leave Toyota's Formula One team at the end of the season. He said he will announce what the future holds in "a few weeks.''
The news comes with two races left in the season, in China and Brazil. After 15 races this year, he has scored only five points and is 14th in the drivers' standings.
Schumacher drove 51 races for Toyota but never won a Grand Prix. The last of his six wins was in July 2003, when he still drove for Williams.
YATES MOVING
Yates Racing-which was Robert Yates Racing until Robert Yates retired and sold the Ford-based team to his son, Doug (Competition, Sept. 17)-will move from its shop in Mooresville, North Carolina, to be closer to Roush-Fenway Racing in Concord. They have an engine-building business together, and Doug Yates wants to create a closer chassis and engineering bond with Roush-Fenway.
