Taxing Performance
Wow! Your "CO2 Primer'' (Sept. 24) was an eye-popping report. I knew global warming was a political problem but did not know how far politicians in Europe had gone. It clearly is a sneaky means of taxing people who like high-performance cars-up to $4,000 a year on a Porsche 911! They know that if they ramp it up gradually, it will fly, just as people there don't complain too much about $6-a- gallon gas and continue to buy large numbers of high-powered cars.
