Guenther Steiner stood behind a Team Red Bull hauler at Dover and endured yet another impromptu grilling. Several writers wanted to know if Internet reports are correct, if TRB plans to dump Toyota in favor of Chevrolet next year. As patiently and as clearly as possible, the company's top U.S.-based executive denied the repeated speculation.
"We made a commitment to Toyota in 2005, and we are going to stick with it,'' said Steiner, TRB's director of competition. "And it's quite annoying [dealing with rumors], because we are trying to concentrate on more important things. When I have to repeat myself so often, it makes me think, `Who wants us to leave Toyota?' We don't want to leave; we want to stay, and I hope I've said it for the last time. It comes up every two or three weeks, and I'm more than tired of talking about it.''
