According to an abstract submitted by authors to the Keystone Symposium Control and Manipulation of the Immune Response, held March 16-22, 1995, in Taos, New Mexico, "The immunocompetent C.B-17+/+ (C.B-17) inbred mouse strain possesses normal levels of T and B lymphocytes and develops normal protective immune responses. In contrast, severe combined immunodeficient C.B-17scid/scid (SCID) inbred mice lack T and B lymphocytes and do not develop specific immune responses.
