Sep. 22--Coral Watts, one of the nation's most prolific serial killers, died Friday of prostate cancer in the prison ward of a Jackson-area hospital.
Watts, 53, confessed to killing 13 women in Michigan and Texas, and he was convicted of killing two more in Michigan. Investigators said he may have killed as many as 80 people.
He also was the first known serial killer who almost made parole, under a controversial plea deal he made with Texas officials. The plan was thwarted by Michigan prosecutors.
