Sep. 21--Roanoke County's Northside High School will remain closed for a second day today as workers clean up asbestos in the school.

The school system canceled classes Thursday after a contractor doing demolition work in the library Wednesday found asbestos. The building was shut down, and the school system hired a specially licensed contractor to clean up and test the air quality.

"As soon as it was identified to be asbestos, work stopped, the area was contained and we decided to go ahead and close the school," said school spokesman Chuck Lionberger. "We're testing all throughout the whole school as a precautionary…
