Sep. 21--So here we are, halfway through the N.C. high school football regular season, and there are six unbeaten teams in Mecklenburg County.
The surprise is that Independence and Butler, who began the season ranked in national polls, are not among them.
Some of the undefeated teams were expected, such as two-time defending private schools state champion Charlotte Latin. And maybe perennial power Charlotte Country Day, which upset Rock Hill Northwestern -- an S.C. 4A team nearly four times the student population.
But not many foresaw Providence Day coming; or Ardrey Kell, a second-year school that will graduate…
