Sep. 20--PATTERSON -- Some students stayed away from school today, following a large-scale melee Wednesday morning at Patterson High School that involved dozens of students and forced a lockdown. District officials, however, said that it was "business as usual" at the high school and encouraged students to attend classes. The school has increased security through the rest of the week; a press conference is scheduled this afternoon. Sheriff's spokesman Royjindar Singh said three shotgun shells were found on campus this morning, placed in a manner that was "meant to be found." The shells were not on campus yesterday.
