Sep. 19--The Catawba County Department of Utilities and Engineering will waive fees usually charged when trash bags are brought to the county's five convenience centers during "Litter Sweep Weeks" through Sept. 29.

Trash bags will be disposed for free at the five convenience centers if they are brought in special orange bags or recyclable materials placed in special blue bags.

Those bags are available at the Catawba County Utilities and Engineering Office on the second floor of the Government Center in Newton; Cooperative Extension Office off U.S. 321 in south Newton; N.C. Department of Transportation's county maintenance…
