COLUMBIA -- Services for Herman "Blue" Anderson, Sr., 78, of 8036 Farrow Road, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion Canaan Baptist Church (viewing at 1 p.m.) with burial in the church cemetery.
He was born in Richland County, son of Lessie Anderson Jeter, and died September 14, 2007.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Manigault-Hurley Funeral Home, 2229 Two Notch Road. He attended Anna Boyd Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School. He was a former employee of Crafts-Farrow State Hospital, State Park Sanatorium and the Fort Jackson NCO Club.
He was a member of Zion Canaan Baptist Church. He was first married to the late Ophelia Kennedy Anderson and then to the late Gertrude Diggs.
Survivors are a daughter, Vivian A. Fletcher, two sons, Ronnie Anderson and Herman Anderson, Jr., all of Columbia; two brothers, Archae "Sam" (Juanita) Anderson of Columbia, Wilbert (Anna) Anderson of East Orange, NJ; a stepdaughter, Dreamer (Willie Lee) Harrison; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

COLUMBIA -- A memorial service for Olive Helen Hodder Barnett will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Northeast Presbyterian Church, Columbia, with visitation immediately following in the church sanctuary. Dr. George D. Crow will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1501 North West 9th Ave., Miami, FL 33136, or Northeast Presbyterian Church, 601 Polo Road, Columbia, SC 29223. Shives Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mrs. Barnett died September 15, 2007. She was born in Leicester, England, a daughter of Colonels George Albert Hodder and Emily Griggs Hodder (retired Salvation Army officers).
She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, William Barnett; her daughter, Helen Barnett Sarratt and son-in-law, Glenn Sarratt of Greenville, SC; and her son, J. Douglas Barnett and daughter-in-law, Roberta Gordon Barnett, of Columbia. Her grandchildren are Elizabeth Sarratt Miller, Craig Sarratt, Julia Sarratt and Sarah Barnett. Her great-granddaughter is Kathryn Miller.
Her surviving siblings are Pastor Albert Hodder of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Robert Hodder of Richmond, VA, and Commissioner Kenneth Hodder (retired Salvation Army National Commander) of Tampa, FL. She was predeceased by her sister, Emily Dawson, of Langham, England, and brother, Professor B.W. Hodder of Cambridge, England.
Olive lived through The Blitz in London in 1941. She received her R.N. license from Westminster Hospital nursing school in London, England, and later received one year of midwifery training. Olive and Bill married in 1955 and immigrated that same year to Richmond, VA, then moved to Columbia in 1959. Her greatest joy was being a devoted wife and mother. She was a faithful friend to many. She was a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Columbia, and had been a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and the American Red Cross.
The family expresses their appreciation to Northeast Presbyterian Church and its Home Visitation Team and to all who ministered to Olive over twenty years as she dealt with Parkinson's disease.
COLUMBIA -- Mrs. Eleanor Ackerman Hart Boozer, a retired registered nurse and widow of Cecil Clements Hart and George Virgil Boozer, died Tuesday in National Health Care Center in Columbia. She was 93.
Mrs. Boozer was born July 29, 1914, in Cottageville, a daughter of the late Martin Luther Ackerman and Essie Idella Smith Ackerman. She was a member of Cottageville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: a daughter, Ellen Furr of Columbia; a stepdaughter, Ebby Boozer Long and husband Jake of Columbia; a brother, Joseph Benjamin Ackerman and wife Bettye of Cottageville; a sister, Adele Ackerman Rosebrock and husband Luther of Charleston; a son-in-law, Allen Bashore, of Columbia; 10 grandchildren, Brad Furr, Stacy Lever, Pat Martin, Pam Martin, Lisa Burch, Lynne Pry, Allen Bashore, Jr., Jennifer Warlick, Julie Schelble and Paula Seyfer and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Ann Boozer Bashore.
A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 in Cottageville Cemetery. The family will receive friends…
