Post-Capitalist Society presents Peter Drucker's thoughts regarding the evolution of society from the industrial era to a post-capitalist era within the context of major historical movements of the last 500 years. The introduction briefly reviews some of the major transformations in Western history. These transformations occur when society rearranges itself. This rearrangement includes society's world view, basic values, social and political structure, arts, and key institutions. Major transformations that Drucker reviews are the emergence of the new city (1200 AD), the blossoming of the Renaissance (late 1400s), and the Industrial Revolution (early 1800s).
