Sep. 14--VISALIA -- An elderly Tulare woman is Tulare County's first confirmed victim to die in 2007 of complications from West Nile virus.

The death was announced Thursday by county health officials, but Gail McCann, a spokeswoman for the county's Health and Human Services department, and county health officer Dr. Karen Haught said they could not make public the woman's age or when she died, saying only that her death occurred within the past week.

The county reported that the woman's death represents the third human case of West Nile virus this year in Tulare County, but information from the state Department of Health Services…
