Sep. 6--EAST HAVEN -- If Democratic Town Chairman Gene Ruocco wants someone to find fault with Republican Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr.'s vacation habits, he's going to have to look somewhere other than the Town Council, with its 14-1 GOP majority.

Council Chairman Ken McKay, R-1, made it clear this week that he is not going to grant Ruocco's request that the council assign a subcommittee to investigate.

"I have considered the request of Mr. Ruocco and the response by Mayor Maturo. It is obvious that the request is politically motivated, and even more obvious that the request has absolutely no merit," McKay said in a one-paragraph, …
