Sep. 5--They wore blue wristbands with the words "Winterpock Wolves" printed on them.

Winterpock Elementary School isn't open yet, but more than 500 students who filed into trailers at Spring Run Elementary School in Chesterfield County yesterday morning know it will be their school.

The trailers will make up their temporary school community for the next two months, until Winterpock opens in November.

For 17 of the region's 21 school systems, yesterday was the first day of the 2007-08 school year. School officials around the region reported few problems other than the occasional bus-route mix-up.
