Aug. 30--IN MY OPINION What's 'huge,' 'shiny,' 'home away from home' ? Why, it's Pumpkin Center's North Lincoln Middle School It's hard to get lost in Pumpkin Center.

But I somehow managed. Folks at a service station on N.C. 150 helped me get my bearings to the new North Lincoln Middle School. I rolled into the parking lot off Amity Church Road around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

It was the first day of classes and I expected at least a little chaos. Instead, I found teachers and students quietly getting into the groove and learning their new surroundings.
