Aug. 30--Despite back-to-school traffic, Lake Norman-area schools opened Monday to thousands of public school students without a glitch.

Iredell-Statesville Schools, Mooresville Graded School District, Catawba County Schools and Lincoln County Schools were free of major setbacks on opening day.

"It was pretty smooth and pretty quiet out here," said Dawn Creason, spokeswoman for ISS.

Creason said she didn't receive any complaints from parents.

Unlike Charlotte-Mecklenburg School's bus driver shortage, which resulted in numerous bus delays for students, most Lake Norman area schools reported few incidents, if…
