Aug. 29--Hopewell High's Jamie Billings hired someone to replace himself.
Billings took over as athletics director two weeks ago, and had to fill the spot he vacated as baseball coach. Hopewell hired David Brown, the coach at Randleman High the past six years.
Athletics directors in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools aren't allowed to coach.
Brown, 37, also is an assistant for Impact Baseball, which develops travel and showcase teams for high school-age players. He also coached at Oxford Webb and Southern Durham High.
Billings had been Hopewell's baseball coach since it opened six years ago. His team was 16-6…
