Aug. 28--If Paul Meadors learned one thing writing "Letters to eBay," it was that not everybody can take a joke.
Fortunately for Meadors, a fifth-grade teacher at Traver Elementary School who lives in Fresno, it would appear most people selling items on eBay do have a sense of humor.
The book, due in stores Thursday, collects 115 prank letters Meadors sent to sellers. Using the pseudonym Art Farkas, he poses ridiculous questions about their auctions. (Could a lint roller, for example, pick up porcupine quills?)
It also includes their responses, which provide some of the funniest moments in the whole exercise. (Not sure about the quills, but be careful!)
Once he'd written enough letters to turn into a book, Meadors had to go back to all the sellers he'd pranked and ask them for permission to use their correspondence. Many readily agreed.
Then there was the woman selling a Kwanzaa dress.
