Aug. 23--Staff members at Bishop Spaugh Middle School in west Charlotte started complaining Wednesday that the air conditioning wasn't working -- a big problem on a day when temperatures climbed above 100 degrees.
So Principal Tyrone McDonald contacted Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools' maintenance crews, asking for someone to check the system.
Workers got quite a surprise. They learned someone had stolen some of the pipes from the school's A/C system.
