Aug. 15--Good news, Michigan. Golf's best major is packing up and heading to Oakland Hills.

I'm talking about the PGA Championship, which will hold the 90th installment of its tournament next August in Bloomfield Township. The PGA was by far this year's best major, and not just because Tiger Woods claimed the Wanamaker Trophy on Sunday in Tulsa, Okla.

All right, that did have a lot to do with it, in a year that produced fluky winners like Zach Johnson and Angel Cabrera, as well as Padraig (Will I Ever Finish the 18th Hole?) Harrington, who backed into his British Open victory.

But there's plenty of other evidence …
