The united cities of Los Angeles include many vanished historic towns, most of which are now known only as neighborhoods. People accept the idea that historic structures might remain in say, Calabasas, or Hyde Park, or even "old" Hollywood, but they are astounded when they discover how many important historic buildings are found in the city center. Yet, those who visit downtown Los Angeles will discover many remaining historic structures from the rum of the century through the Art Deco period - many of which are Los Angeles landmarks.
