Aug. 10--A final plan for unifying 911 services countywide should be ready within the next three months and will involve hiring about 20 employees, Hamilton County Commissioner Jim Coppinger said Thursday.

Mr. Coppinger, a former Chattanooga fire chief who has been the commission's liaison to the Hamilton County 911 district, said his participation in unification meetings during the past nine months has convinced him the plan is possible.

The plan would unify 911 operations for Hamilton County, Chattanooga, Collegedale, East Ridge, Red Bank, Signal Mountain and Walden. Soddy-Daisy and Lookout Mountain are not participating, but they …
