Seven medical group practices are merging to give birth to what they believe is the area's largest obstetric-gynecological practice.

The 30-physician practice has been named Generations Health Care Inc. The merged practices have 10 locations, mainly along the Interstate 270 corridor, said Dr. Octavio R. Chirino, a Generations board member.

"This is the largest ob-gyn practice in the area as far as we know," Chirino said. "We think our group will probably grow larger."

Generations' board refused to release details on how many patients the group had or its anticipated annual revenue, a spokeswoman said.

Health-care consultant Joe Farrell of the Medical Care Management Group confirmed Generations is the largest such group in the area.
