This is the first in a series of stories examining the growing entertainment industry in South Florida.

Coral Gables - OK, so Adolfo Alvarez-Calderon and his partners can't make you a star. They can do wonders for your house, though.

Alvarez, of We Shoot 'Em, one of South Florida's first location scouting companies, earns a living finding homes and settings for feature films, television shows, photo shoots and commercials.

He and his three associates, all formerly with the Miami Vice location department, often are the first to be called when a new production comes to town. Since the company's inception nearly four years ago, it has worked on Ace Ventura - Pet Detective, The Specialist, The Perez Family, Miami Rhapsody, B.L. Stryker and others.
