Aug. 4--JANE LANGA, 80, of Farmington Hills
Organization: Botsford Rehabilitation and Continuing Care Center in Farmington Hills What she does: Langa, a retired nurse, uses her caregiving skills and experience to befriend nursing home residents. Each week for the past five years, Langa has spent many hours visiting with residents, getting to know them and listening to their life stories. She is very thoughtful, often bringing flowers from her garden and homemade cookies to the residents. On nice days, she accompanies them to an outdoor gazebo and serves afternoon tea, which she prepares. Langa is an accomplished artist and has given watercolor paintings to residents to decorate their rooms. When one of Langa's resident friends passed away, the bereaved family asked to keep the watercolor painting that was hanging in the resident's room as a memento of Langa's compassion.
