Aug. 1--RIPON -- While inching toward a hearing before a state agency that oversees special education disputes, Dana Johnson has called or written every other local, state and federal agency or official she thinks will help her find justice for daughter Amanda.
In the shade outside her Ripon home on a recent warm afternoon, Johnson described being turned down, redirected or just plain ignored along the way.
A self-described thorn in the side of local educators, Johnson is relentless and said she often makes noise and complains in the name of Amanda's safety and education. Though she forms tight bonds with some of the people working with her daughter, Johnson is not afraid to make enemies.
