3 elementaries safe from bond plan cuts.

Jul. 29--BALLANTYNE -- When the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School board announced last week a southern Mecklenburg school would be dropped from its school bond proposal, some parents were worried:
Did that mean an end to one of the three much-talked-about Ballantyne area elementary schools?
It didn't. Those schools -- Elon Park Elementary and the new Flat Branch and Providence Road West elementaries -- are happening, being paid for by previous school bonds or other funding methods. (For the latest construction status of those schools, see the box at right below.)
The talk illustrates how confusing school bond plans can seem. CMS makes bond requests years ahead of when that money will be fully spent.
