Jul. 26--Tim Huber managed to get a couple of days off from work to play some golf. He took full advantage, shooting 74-69 to win the Northern California PGA Professional Championship at Mayacama Golf Club in Santa Rosa.
Huber, from Madera Ranchos, shot the only sub-70 round in the two-day tournament and won by two strokes Tuesday over Brad Martin of Redwood City and Rick Leibovich of Salinas.
"I've been trying to win that tournament for years," said Huber, whose job is head golf professional at Sierra Meadows Golf and Country Club in Ahwahnee (just south of Yosemite). "I won by two shots; that really surprised me."
