Although I agree the warehouse is not the consignee ("Warehouses Shift Burden," June 25), shifting responsibility to the shipper would only be appropriate when the shipper exceeds the defined and committed ability of the warehouse to receive and unload for a defined period of time. Warehousing and trucking are at the end of the supply chain and their managers deal with volume swings every day.

What distinguishes one company from the next is its ability and willingness to effectively and proactively help manage the risks in conjunction with their business partners.
