I would like to wish all the members of the Canadian Institute of Management a great 65th Anniversary. Our Institute is celebrating a wonderful and exciting time as we celebrate a monumental milestone.

Over the last several months, I had the opportunity to join Lake Simcoe and Ottawa for their festive winter celebrations. It was an honor to meet and speak with the members. The passion and commitment of our members is evident across the country.

The Semi-Annual Meetings held in Toronto in January were well attended and very productive. Delegates from across the country came to share their insights and the weekend proved to be extremely productive. Business meetings of the board, council and committees have action items that will carry us into the future in good stead. I want to thank each and every one for their commitment to ensuring that 2007 will be our best year yet.

It is obvious to me that the members in CIM do not want to shortchange their potential. We know that this group has what it takes to be successful and recognized. We are, as Walter Wintle so eloquently says in his poem, "The Man Who Thinks He can".

"You've got to think high to rise You've got to be sure of yourself before You can ever win a prize. Life's battles don't always go To the stronger and faster man; But sooner or later the man who wins Is the one who thinks he can."

The members of CIM have shown me that during our 65th year they want to aim for the moon because they know if we don't quite get there at least we will be among the stars. We want CIM and its members to be recognized as the Leaders in Management that we all know that we are.
