Tops Markets Inc. search for new warehouse space has apparently ended in Lancaster.
The Amherst-based supermarket giant has selected a 136-acre, vacant parcel at Genesee Street and Gunnville Road in Lancaster for its 835,000-square-foot warehouse.
"We are actively pursuing the site," said Lawrence Castellani, Tops president and CEO. "It is our first choice but it is subject to all the necessary approvals."
The plan will be formally presented to Lancaster residents during a series of meetings Feb. 13. The deal is contingent on standard environmental reviews of the property and rezonings. Much of the property is zoned for suburban agricultural purposes and …
