The Port of Portland, riding high since the addition of two trans-Pacific services last year, will lose one of those carriers, Zim Integrated Shipping Services, on Sept. 2.
Zim began calling at Portland''s Terminal 6 in May 2006 and Yang Ming Line followed with its new service about a month later. Both lines have helped the port come back from the loss of "K" Line and Hyundai Merchant Marine in 2004 and 2005, which left the port with Hanjin Merchant Marine as the only major trans-Pacific operator using the Columbia River port. Container volume dipped to one of the port''s lowest levels in 2005.
