Jul. 12--Superintendent Peter Gorman will ask the school board later this month to expel eight students, the first Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools expulsions in recent memory.
The action is connected to a revised student-conduct code aimed at increasing CMS oversight of the system's worst troublemakers but also potentially lightening the penalty for some first-time offenders.
"There are some students who come to school not ready to behave," Gorman said Wednesday. "We intend to take action against them."
