Jul. 11--Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials later this month will ask the school board to expel eight students for behavior problems.
Superintendent Peter Gorman said it is the first time "in recent memory" that CMS has taken such action. He said it is a sign of a stepped-up effort by the school system to provide a safe learning environment for students.
"There are some students who come to school not ready to behave," Gorman said. "We intend to take action against them."
"We're asking the board to take that action, and we'll see what the board decides," he added.
