Jul. 8--Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools It's the middle of summer, with most students and teachers away from the classrooms, but administrative shuffling under way in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will mean big changes at several schools in August.

CMS officials annually spend part of the summer appointing principals to fill vacancies left by retirements, but the start of the system's decentralization plan is adding to the work this year.

The school board approved several changes late last month, but a number of vacancies remain.
