HONOLULU, July 5 (Yonhap) -- South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun is scheduled to have a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin Friday morning (early Saturday morning Korean time) on the North Korean nuclear problem and other issues, Roh's spokesman Cheon Ho-seon said Thursday. Roh arrived here earlier Thursday from Guatemala, where he had campaigned for PyeongChang's bid to host the 2014 Winter Olympics at an annual conference of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The South Korean mountain resort city lost its bid to Russia's Sochi. "Shortly before leaving Guatemala, Putin delivered his intention to talk to Roh on the phone and the conversation is likely to take place Friday morning in Hawaii," Cheon said. According to other presidential aides, the Russian leader is expected to express his gratitude for South Korea's goodwill competition at the IOC meeting in Guatemala and deliver some words of consolation for PyeongChang's loss. The two leaders are also expected to discuss measures to accelerate the disabling of the North Korean nuclear weapons program, they said.
