The wait for the Dodge Neon SRT4 replacement ends this September with the debut of the Caliber SRT4.
Featuring a turbocharged and intercooled version of the global Chrysler 2.4-liter dohc inline-four with dual variable valve timing, the SRT4 engine produces 280 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Word is the real numbers are 5 hp and 5 lb-ft higher.
Power goes to 19-inch front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, managed by an electronic brake-lock differential that channels power while adjusting boost, spark advance and throttle to abate torque steer.
Dodge hopes to offer at least one stripped-down version of the SRT4 that should come in just below $20,000.
