Barrett-Jackson Responds
Contrary to the comments in the article "Acreage Angst'' (Revs, June 25), Barrett-Jackson's application for a 12-acre parcel of land in Scottsdale was not a subversive attempt to ruin a competitor. We applied to lease the parcel which is just over three miles from WestWorld and which has never been legally occupied by Russo & Steele. This land is no further from our auction site than many areas already utilized for parking. We already use an area of land adjacent to this very parcel for remote parking, shuttling customers to the event on buses. We made our application with the express support of others in the community and in compliance with all regulations. While we could have done so, we did not apply for the 7-acre parcel that Russo & Steele legally occupies for their auction. If they wish to legally occupy the 12-acre parcel in question, they can submit a competitive bid for its use.

Ugly and expensive?
Regarding the Faralli & Mazzanti Antas (This Week, June 18), it's good to know that customers have a hand in designing the car they purchase, because that is the ugliest car I have ever laid eyes on.
Steve Clinton, Orange, Calif.
When I saw the photos of the Faralli & Mazzanti Antas, I first thought it looked like a lumpy version of the Michael Keaton (Batman) Batmobile in blue. Then, when I saw its asking price of $800,000, I knew the only place for it was deep within the Batcave.
