Jul. 4--PULASKI -- A $1 million renovation to turn the old Claremont Elementary School building into a private school for children with autism and other special needs started a little more than a week ago. A recent tour of the building, vacant since 2005, showed much work to be done before the first students arrive this fall.
But officials from Camelot, a for-profit company with schools in several states, have already identified a few prospective students and made a few hires. The company expects to announce a principal for the school this week, after which it will start hiring teachers.
