* Once the temps outside start to rise, the world goes a little crazy--there are more bee stings, traffic jams, and inline skaters on the loose. Even your beauty routine goes a little haywire when you're out there in the hot, steamy weather, enjoying all sorts of hot steamy things (beaches, barbecues, bare-chested men ...). But while you're doing your thing, you don't want to totally crash and burn your beauty habits into the ground. Keep these safe-summer-play rules in mind and you won't have to hold back on having fun or looking good.
Keep your makeup products as cool and chill as the frosty drinks.
Heat not only causes your body to sweat bullets, but it can also cause the stuff in your cosmetics bag to break down. "Ingredients will separate if exposed to heat for long periods of time, usually if you've left them in a glove compartment or purse during the day," says Patricia Agin, PhD, sun-care research and development fellow at Coppertone. As far as I sunblock goes, 'the SPF will still be effective," says Agin, "but the consistency w be runny.' The same goes for your foundation, concealer, or lip gloss. And we don't have to mention how sexy you'll look with that streaking down your face. A better idea: Pack your beauty supplies in the cooler if you're planning a day trip in the car, and stash your purse in the shade. At home, toss makeup in the fridge (bonus: It'll instantly refresh sticky skin), but leave out sunscreen, since it's best preserved at room temp, says Agin.

Out late? Before your head hits the pillow, wipe off your makeup. We know--you practically need toothpicks to keep your eyes open--but derms insist that if you don't detox your face, you could wind up with zits. Even if you're not super made-up, your skin accumulates oil and dirt during the day, both of which can clog your pores, says NYC derm Diane Berson. The easy fix is to wash with cleansing towelettes (they're like washcloths for lazy scrubbers). Try Biore Daily Deep Pore Cleansing Cloths, $5.95.
Share your hotel room, not your makeup stash.
if you're passing around mascara wands, eye-shadow brushes, and makeup sponges, you might as well trade underwear too, given all that you're exposing yourself to. ...
