Nabisco Biscuit Co. is preparing to spend up to $40 million to upgrade the Niagara Falls plant.

The Nabisco plant on Buffalo Avenue will undergo a complete renovation as it gears up to be the company's lone facility to produce Triscuit crackers.

Nabisco plans to spend $40 million upgrading the plant during the next five years, said Caroline Fee, company manager of corporate communications.

"To make Triscuits there, we need to modernize the plant," she said.

The work won't necessarily translate into more jobs for the plant, but it will give its 200 workers a more secure future.

The upgrade long had been rumored but this marks the first time …
