The Phoenix, Tucson and Yuma areas all rank around the 20th percentile in a new and differently conceived measure of quality of life (QOL). Flagstaff ranks just below average. The study's seven top-ranked areas are located on the California coast.
A variety of studies have attempted to measure QOL. Conceptually, most are similar, measuring the same sorts of attributes, such as climate, health care and public safety. However, hardly any correlation exists across the studies. Correlations are relatively low even between updates of the same study.
