Jun. 24--ATLANTA -- At least once per game when Justin Verlander pitches, Tigers first baseman Sean Casey hears the same comment from someone lucky enough to reach base.
"They will say, 'He has the nastiest stuff I've ever seen,' " Casey said.
Casey had only a handful of guests at first base in Verlander's 2-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. Verlander fanned 11 and gave up four hits: three singles and Chipper Jones' fourth-inning homer.
Jones' homer was the Braves' first run in four games and the final run of the game.
